Changan bought the Hyundai car plant in Chongqing
Automotive concern Changan has completed the acquisition of the Hyundai plant in Chongqing, which will become a production site for Deepal models.
As reported by BAKU.WS, according to carnewschina.com.
The Deepal automotive brand is part of the Changan structure.
It is noted that the asset was transferred at a final price of 1.62 billion yuan (about 380 million manats - ed.). Deepal stated that the brand has a plan for using this facility, but did not disclose which model will be produced at the plant and when production will begin.
Deepal already has large production facilities in Nanjing and Beijing. The addition of the new plant expands the brand's production footprint amid growing sales: in October 2024, 36,792 vehicles were sold, and the cumulative volume for January-October increased by 57.1% year-on-year.
