American scientists have invented a new effective method to fight cancer

American scientists from Northwestern University have come up with a fundamentally new way to fight cancer: they proposed depriving it of drug resistance. This is reported by "World Innovation News".
According to Vadim Backman, the head of the research, the main danger of cancer cells lies in their ability to adapt to various types of therapies and drugs. "We decided to take away this superpower from them. Not to kill them directly, but to deprive them of flexibility and the ability to change," he explained.
During experiments, scientists found that this can be achieved using the drug celecoxib. This common anti-inflammatory medication for arthritis demonstrated the desired side effect. According to the study, celecoxib can double the effectiveness of standard chemotherapy. Details are published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).
