A strong earthquake occurred in Turkey, tremors were felt in Istanbul

A strong earthquake of magnitude 5.0 occurred in Turkey, with tremors significantly felt in Istanbul, reports Report.

According to local media, the tremors lasted 10-15 seconds.

Meanwhile, the European Seismological Center reported a magnitude 5 earthquake in the Sea of Marmara, 21 km south of Marmara Ereğlisi in Tekirdağ province. The epicenter was at a depth of 14 km.

AFAD subsequently confirmed the information: the earthquake occurred at 14:55 local time.
