Russian medical professionals have presented a new perspective on dietetics, offering a more balanced approach to nutrition instead of radical restrictions, reports a correspondent from Moscow.

According to data published by Russian researchers, although scientific studies repeatedly confirm the connection between consumption of "harmful" products and the risk of developing various diseases, from obesity to oncology, completely eliminating them can negatively affect other health indicators.

"Any prohibition is stress for the body, and, consequently, many people begin to use food as a way to cope with emotions and psychological state," explained Anna Kitsieva, PhD in Medical Sciences, gastroenterologist and clinical nutritionist, expert at the International Institute of Integrative Nutrition.

The Russian specialist recommends following the 80/20 system, where the majority of the diet should be balanced and healthy, while the remaining 20% can consist of foods that bring pleasure.

Among practical recommendations, the expert highlights planning meals several days in advance and the importance of not leaving home hungry to avoid the temptation of fast food snacks.

"Try to include vegetables and greens in every meal. They are rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber. If you haven't eaten vegetables before, start with small portions and experiment with seasonings and cooking methods," emphasized the Russian nutritionist.

The specialist also notes the importance of regular eating without long breaks to maintain energy balance and prevent overeating.
