World Championship: Omar Salmanov advances to the semifinals

Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler Omar Salmanov secured his second victory at the U-17 World Championship in Baku.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, the athlete competing in the up to 48 kg weight category confidently defeated Iranian Esmaili Leivesi 6:1 in the quarterfinal and advanced to the semifinal.

Earlier, Salmanov defeated India's Avinash Chetake with the same score in the round of 16.

Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler Omar Salmanov secured a victory in his first match at the U-17 World Championship in Baku.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, the athlete competing in the 48 kg weight category faced India's Avinash Chetake in the round of 16.

Salmanov won this match against his opponent with a score of 6:1.

It should be noted that the competitions are being held at the National Gymnastics Arena. Approximately 700 young wrestlers from more than 60 countries are participating in the competition. Azerbaijan is represented at the world championship by 29 wrestlers.
