Tourist faces 10 years in prison in Saudi Arabia for posting on X
British tourist faces 10 years imprisonment in Saudi Arabia for a post on social media X.
As reported by BAKU.WS, according to The Guardian.
Manchester resident Ahmed al-Doush was arrested at Riyadh airport on August 31, 2024, and has been in custody since then. His first court hearing took place in November, and until that time, the tourist had no contact with his family.
It is believed that the reason for the arrest was the Briton's deleted tweet about the war in Sudan, as well as his friendship with the son of a Saudi dissident. He is prohibited from appointing a lawyer of his choice or providing any details about the case, the progress of hearings, or the conditions of detention in the Middle Eastern prison.
It is noted that Ahmed al-Doush is the family's sole source of income, and his wife Amaher Noor, who recently gave birth, has been left alone with four children.
