Today is the birthday of the National Hero of Azerbaijan, TV reporter Chingiz Mustafayev.

Chingiz Mustafayev was born on August 29, 1960, in the Astrakhan region of Russia.

In 1964, he moved with his family to Baku. In 1983, he graduated from Azerbaijan Medical University.

With the beginning of hostilities in Karabakh, Ch. Mustafayev completely dedicated himself to military journalism. In 1991, he began working as a reporter for Azerbaijan State Television. His reports, revealing the whole truth about Azerbaijan, which was under an information blockade at that time, were broadcast by leading Western agencies and TV channels.

Due to the censorship that existed on state television, Ch. Mustafayev created the studio "215 KL," bringing something new to the Azerbaijani television space. The journalist became a public favorite thanks to his programs "215 KL presents," "No one will be forgotten," "Face to face."

Despite the real threat to his own life, he recorded on videotape the consequences of the Khojaly genocide committed by Armenians on the night of February 25-26, 1992.

On June 15, 1992, during fierce fighting in Karabakh, Ch. Mustafayev was fatally wounded by a mine fragment while trying to capture the advance of the Azerbaijani army. The reporter's camera continued filming at that moment.

He is buried at the Alley of Martyrs in Baku.

In 1993, Chingiz Mustafayev was posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan.
