The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan has published a report on the crash of an Embraer 190 passenger aircraft belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) near Aktau. The document confirms that the aircraft was subjected to external impact before the catastrophe.

An official source in the Azerbaijani government revealed several new facts to Reuters.

According to the data, the aircraft was hit by a Russian air defense system.

"The Azerbaijani side has a fragment of a Pantsir-S missile system that was extracted from the aircraft wreckage and identified during international examination," the source stated.

Among those who died in the tragedy was flight attendant Hokuma Aliyeva. She and the pilots - Igor Kshnyakin and Alexander Kalyaninov - were posthumously awarded the title "National Hero of Azerbaijan"

Hokuma Aliyeva's father, Jalil Aliyev, in a comment to modern.az, stated that he wants the maximum punishment for those who shot down the plane:

"The government will do everything necessary. If I'm called to court, I will demand the maximum punishment possible. I want to know why and for what reason they shot down our plane. A parent is ready to give their life for their child. I would want those responsible to receive the death penalty."

Recall that on the morning of December 25, 2024, AZAL Airlines flight J2-8243 from Baku to Grozny crashed near the Kazakhstani city of Aktau. There were 67 people on board, including 5 crew members (37 citizens of Azerbaijan, 16 of Russia, 6 of Kazakhstan, 3 of Kyrgyzstan). According to the latest data, 38 people died in the plane crash, including 3 crew members and both pilots.
