Head of construction company Melissa Group arrested

The charges against the owner of the construction company Melissa Group, Galib Mammadov, who was detained in connection with illegal building demolition works, have been revealed.

As Report informs, the entrepreneur has been charged under Article 186.2.1 (deliberate destruction of another's property causing large-scale damage to the victim) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

The Khatai District Court rejected the petition of Galib Mammadov's lawyers for release under house arrest and chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of 1 month.

The contractor for the criminal case and excavator driver Gala Eynullayev has also been held accountable. He faces the same charges, and a submission regarding him has been sent to the Khatai District Court. In the near future, a submission on choosing detention as a preventive measure against him will be considered.

The head of the construction company Melissa Group, Galib Mammadov, has been arrested in Baku.

As Report informs, the submission of the investigative body was considered in the Khatai District Court under the chairmanship of Judge Aygun Hasanova.

The court granted the petition. According to the decision, G. Mammadov has been sentenced to one month of detention.

Earlier, he was detained as part of a criminal case initiated over the illegal demolition of a residential building in the Yasamal district.

Recall that on March 27, employees of the construction company began demolishing a residential building in the Birinchi Alatava area at 118B Abdulvahab Salamzade Street while residents were still inside. As a result, several people were injured.

The State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture stated that the demolition was carried out without proper permission and agreement with the residents. The work was stopped, and reports were drawn up in the presence of representatives from competent authorities. The State Committee also noted that materials for conducting an investigation regarding the damage caused to citizens' property during the illegal actions would be submitted to law enforcement agencies.

In addition to the company head, the foreman and excavator operator have been detained in the case. The materials have been transferred to law enforcement agencies, and a criminal case has been initiated.
