Azerbaijan approved the extradition to India of Jharkhand state's most wanted criminal, Mayank Singh, also known as Sunil Mina, who is being held in a Baku prison.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, Jharkhand's Director General of Police Anurag Gupta confirmed that with the assistance of central agencies, all legal procedures for his extradition have been completed.

The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of Jharkhand provided compelling evidence through Interpol, which allowed the Azerbaijani court to recognize Mayank as a dangerous criminal and approve his extradition.

A team of representatives from Jharkhand's ATU will soon travel to Azerbaijan to bring Mayank back.

The extradition treaty between India and Azerbaijan played a crucial role in this case. Police representatives consider this a major breakthrough in the fight against criminals operating from abroad. They believe that Mayank's return will not only help Jharkhand police but also assist other states in dismantling organized crime networks.

Mayank became the first criminal from Jharkhand to be arrested abroad and subject to extradition. He gained notoriety by showcasing his luxurious lifestyle and modern weapons on social media. After prolonged efforts by Jharkhand police, he was arrested in Baku last year.

Mayank has a long criminal history and was a childhood friend of the notorious gangster Lawrence. For the past two years, he worked closely with gangster Aman Sahu, who was killed in a police shootout, organizing extortion and other crimes in Jharkhand from Malaysia. Using internet calls, he frequently threatened businessmen and was extremely active on social media, openly promoting his gang.
