Who is distorting the meaning of the President of Azerbaijan's words about superpowers, and why?
For two days now, following the speech of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the 8th congress of the "Yeni Azerbaijan" party, a number of Russian media outlets have been trying to present his words about two world powers, the USA and China, as allegedly an anti-Russian attack.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated in a segment by Baku TV RU.
"The headlines claim that Ilham Aliyev supposedly excluded Russia from the ranks of superpowers. It is enough to refer to the context of the speech: the President was talking about Azerbaijan's strategic partnership with Washington and Beijing, about the competition between them and the significance of their agreements for the world. This segment was dedicated to Baku's foreign policy opportunities, which is why turning it into a hint addressed to Moscow looks very far-fetched and tendentious, especially considering that 10 years ago Vladimir Putin himself made a similar distinction," the report notes.
