Victory in Karabakh - a symbol of solidarity

In Baku on April 15, the second meeting of the chairmen of defense and security committees of parliaments of Turkic states - TURKPA was held in the Milli Mejlis on the topic "Strengthening cooperation on security and defense between Turkic-speaking states: the role of parliaments."

The event was attended by representatives of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the Secretary General of TURKPA, and other officials.

Opening the meeting with the words of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev: "We have no other family. Our family is the Turkic world," - the chairman of the MM committee on defense, security and anti-corruption Arzu Nagiyev emphasized in his speech the need for institutionalization of Turkic states in political, economic and defense aspects. In the modern world, the unity of Turkic states is one of the key forces ensuring development, peace and security. Therefore, strengthening ties with the countries of the Turkic world in all directions, including at the parliamentary level, is one of the priorities for Azerbaijan.

Important platform

Strengthening inter-parliamentary interaction and expanding cooperation in other formats definitely serves the common interests of Turkic peoples and states, which are united by historical, cultural and spiritual roots, writes the newspaper "Caspian".

Moreover, TURKPA, being a very significant platform, takes important steps to implement strategic goals, makes a significant contribution to expanding cooperation between the parliaments of member countries. This is facilitated by regular meetings between parliamentary committees of TURKPA member countries, which in turn leads both to the expansion of cooperation and the formation of a legislative framework supporting national security and defense strategies.

The chairman of the National Defense Commission of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Hulusi Akar, who participated in the meeting, emphasized that against the background of ongoing global processes and growing threats, cooperation in the field of defense and security, as well as the promotion of peace and stability, are of particular importance.

Meanwhile, the member states of the organization are making efforts for its further development and transformation into an authoritative international structure. And for this, it is necessary to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation to bring Turkic peoples closer together, develop ties between countries in all areas, and implement joint strategic projects.

In this context, Azerbaijan's victory in the just struggle for Karabakh is an example for the entire Turkic world and the international community. "The victory in Karabakh has become a symbol of solidarity not only for Azerbaijan and Turkey but also for the entire Turkic world. This victory demonstrated to the world community what results a strong army and national unity can give in combination with strategic cooperation," stated Hulusi Akar, noting that Azerbaijan's historic victory in Karabakh has not only regional but also international significance.

The goal is a just world order

The unity of Turkic states is aimed at both ensuring regional stability and forming a just world order on a global scale, said the head of the committee on legal, political issues, foreign relations and defense of the Mejlis of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Yasemin Ozturk, in her speech.

Cooperation of Turkic-speaking states in the field of defense and security has strategic importance, believes the Secretary General of TURKPA Mehmet Sureyya Er.
