President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on July 11 participated in the opening of the restored historical and architectural monument in Shusha - the House of Sadygjan.

As reported by AZERTAC, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Shusha district Aydin Karimov informed the head of state about the work carried out.

It was noted that during the occupation of the city of Shusha, the building had been in a state of neglect for a long time, as a result of which the roof, floors, and stonework had undergone serious deformations and destruction. Some of the architectural elements of the structure were damaged, and the engineering and utility systems had completely fallen into a state of disrepair.

According to the decree of the President of Azerbaijan from 2022, funds were allocated for the design and restoration of the house where Mirza Asad oglu Sadig - Sadygjan - an Azerbaijani musician, tar player, composer, and craftsman who perfected the tar, had lived.

In 2022, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva inspected the house where Sadygjan had lived in the city of Shusha. A year later, the head of state reviewed the concept of the project for the planned works there, and in 2024, the restoration of this historical and architectural monument began.

The two-story house-museum of Sadygjan is located on Sadygjan Street in the city of Shusha. The arched windows and the entrance portal decorated with relatively large stones give the building a distinctive architectural expressiveness.

The House-Museum of Sadygjan is included in the list of historical and architectural monuments of national significance.

The house-museum features exhibition halls dedicated to the life and work of Sadygjan, Azerbaijani national musical heritage and the rich literary and artistic environment of the city of Shusha, a concert hall, a mugham exposition hall, as well as a café, a souvenir shop, a registration department, and a workshop for making musical instruments.

The head of state was informed about the work "Voice of Eternity."

It was noted that this sculptural work represents a symbolic artistic interpretation of Azerbaijan's national musical instrument - the tar. In the composition, the image of a tree born from the strings of the tar symbolizes that music originates from the native land, is nourished by the strength of national memory, and is reborn in life once again. The form of the tree embodies roots, continuity, and the idea of rebirth.

The work is dedicated to the rich cultural heritage of the city of Shusha, which is considered the cradle of Azerbaijan's musical art.

Here, music is presented not only as sound but also as a bearer of national identity, soul, and historical memory.

The author of the sculptural composition is Honored Artist Rashad Mehdiyev.
