The Azerbaijani National NGO Forum sent an open letter to the government of Korea

The Azerbaijani National NGO Forum sent an open letter to the government of the Republic of Korea.
The authors of the letter note that they received with surprise and deep concern the permission to screen the film by Armenian screenwriter and director Emily Mkrtchyan titled "There was, There was not" at the Jeonju International Film Festival currently taking place in Korea, as this film is directed against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
"In the film, the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan, previously under occupation, is presented under a fictional name, which contradicts historical justice, norms of international law, as well as the official position of the Republic of Korea.
We strongly condemn the transformation of the Jeonju International Film Festival into a cheap propaganda tool for a film that promotes occupation, separatism, extremism, incites ethnic and religious hatred, and revanchism.
The Azerbaijani National NGO Forum calls on the festival management to remove this film from the official page of the event and prevent similar cases in the future," the letter states.
