The congress of the Ana Vətən ("Homeland") party, held on October 25, provoked a serious confrontation within the family of the organization's founder and chairman Fazail Agamaly. The meeting discussed the issue of electing a new leader of the party. Fazail Agamaly himself, who had led the party for 35 years, did not put forward his candidacy, however, two of his children simultaneously contended for the position - his son Elchin Agamaly and daughter, member of the Milli Mejlis Gunay Agamaly. It was after this that a serious conflict erupted. Fazail Agamaly openly supported his daughter's candidacy and categorically opposed the election of his son.

Despite his father's objections, Elchin Agamaly put the question of his chairmanship to a vote. As seen from the footage of the congress, a significant number of delegates voted for him. In this situation, Fazail Agamaly was forced to interrupt the event. What will happen next?

As reported by BAKU.WS, Elchin Agamaly in a conversation with Yeni Sabah spoke about what happened, the current state of the party and plans for the future.

- What happened after the Ana Vətən party congress?

- After the congress, we are working on preparing legal documents for submission to the Ministry of Justice. This is our main task now. After submitting the documents, we will discuss our future plans and make an appropriate statement.

- Do you consider yourself the chairman of the Ana Vətən party?

- Yes. I am the legally elected new chairman of the Ana Vətən party following the results of the congress held on October 25.

- How are you currently carrying out your activities as chairman? Does the party have a headquarters? Have you visited it after the congress?

- Our party has a headquarters. However, we are not actively working there yet, we continue to work remotely. We are fully involved in the work process.

- Have you communicated with Fazail Agamaly after these events?

- I spoke with my father after the congress. We still have disagreements, but I think that over time this issue will also find its solution.

- When did you begin your activities as a party member?

- Since the founding of the Ana Vətən party in 1990. At that time, I was a senior student in high school - I came to the party at 16 years old. Since party membership is possible from the age of 18, the first two years I acted as a party supporter.

After reaching 18, my first work as a party member was creating the "Young Bozkurt Followers Organization," the youth wing of the party. That's how I started. And in subsequent years (except for the time of civil service and recent years), I actively participated in party work. In total, I devoted 25 years of my life to the Ana Vətən party.

- What positions in the party have you worked in?

- I was chairman of the Central Audit Commission, secretary for organizational issues, deputy for international affairs, head of the Central Office, member of the Central Council, member of the Board. I have always played a major role in party building.

- Was your name mentioned in family conversations regarding the chairman position?

- My father has always supported me. He constantly supported my political activities, and many party members expressed a desire to see me as a leader in case of Fazail Agamaly's resignation
