Simonyan on the 44-day war: I was in hell and wanted to fall at someone's feet
On November 9, 2020, I was in hell. At that time, I was in Russia and said that I was ready to fall at someone's feet, just for the war to end.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Armenian media, these words were spoken by the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan, answering a question about what he was doing on the night of November 8-9, 2020.
"On November 8, I was in a hotel and learned that there was already a discussed text [of the agreement]. Later that fateful night, I turned on my phone and checked it. Then I heard rumors that Ararat (then Speaker of Parliament, now Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan - ed.) had been killed. Then one of my friends called and told me to leave the hotel as it was unsafe, and that he would send a car for me. But I refused. In Moscow, friends gave me a weapon just in case of a sudden attack," Simonyan said.
He added that he returned to Armenia on November 12.
"We could have lost the country, we were in hell," he emphasized.
