Shavkat Mirziyoyev called Ilham Aliyev

On April 26, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev called the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

The heads of state discussed issues of further strengthening Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of friendship, strategic partnership and alliance.

During the telephone conversation, views were exchanged on the practical implementation of agreements reached following the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan in August last year.

The productive work being carried out within the framework of the Year of Economic Cooperation was noted with satisfaction.

It was reported that trade turnover has increased by 20% since the beginning of the year, with projects in the automotive, textile, electrical engineering, energy, agricultural, tourism and other industries in an active phase, and a rich program of cultural and humanitarian exchange is being jointly implemented.

The importance of comprehensive preparation for the high-level summits planned for this year was emphasized, including holding the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission, forums of regions and rectors, and cultural events.

The Presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan also exchanged views on the regional agenda, discussed upcoming multilateral events and cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States.
