Sahiba Gafarova: Azerbaijan is committed to strengthening ties in the Islamic world
Azerbaijan, assuming the chairmanship of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC), was guided by the principles of peace, justice, tolerance and human dignity, as well as sustainable and inclusive development.
As Report informs, this was stated by the Chairperson of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova at the PUIC coordination meeting in Tanzania.
The Speaker noted that the 20th Session of the PUIC Conference was successfully held in June this year in Baku, after which the Milli Majlis assumed the chairmanship of the organization.
"This chairmanship reflects Azerbaijan's commitment to strengthening solidarity and close ties in the Islamic world. Experience shows that countries from different regions, holding various positions, can work together by focusing on consultations, mutual respect and common interests," she said.
The Chairperson of the Milli Majlis also noted that regional perspectives should occupy a more prominent place in the broad international parliamentary dialogue.
