Russia's Ambassador in Baku Summoned to Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry
Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Yevdokimov was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan on February 6, 2026.
As Report conveys, this is stated in the message of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
"During the meeting, the Azerbaijani side expressed a strong protest in connection with the statement made on February 5 by Konstantin Zatulin, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, and member of the United Russia party, regarding the conviction of citizens of the Republic of Armenia in Azerbaijan. A corresponding note was delivered to the Russian side on this matter," the statement says.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Konstantin Zatulin has for a long time spoken against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, openly supports separatism, and also attempts to distort court decisions regarding citizens of Armenia found guilty of committing crimes against peace and humanity, as well as war crimes resulting from Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan. Such statements and formulations were called unacceptable.
The Azerbaijani side called on Russia to take appropriate measures to stop the destructive activities of individuals like Zatulin, whose actions, as was noted, damage peace and stability in the region, as well as Azerbaijani-Russian relations.
