Five months have passed since the crash of an Azerbaijani AZAL airline plane, operating the Baku - Grozny flight, near Aktau airport in Kazakhstan. However, the Russian side has still not provided specific information about the progress of the investigation into the incident.

According to a study by the APA news agency, the Azerbaijani side sends monthly requests to the Russian side on this issue. However, as reported, the opposite side is delaying the investigation and not responding to inquiries.

"During these five months, the Russian side has not conducted any investigative actions. No preventive measure in the form of arrest has been chosen against the persons guilty and responsible for the accident," the source said.

It is also specified that recently there was another correspondence between the law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan and Russia on this issue, but it again remained fruitless.

"The Azerbaijani side expects concrete steps from Russia on this issue," the APA interlocutor added.

Recall that on December 25, 2024, the plane crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. The preliminary report of the Kazakhstani side indicates that the aircraft was damaged as a result of shelling from the ground near the city of Grozny, after which the pilots lost control, and the plane crashed. The Russian side announced the creation of an investigative group, but information about the results of its work has not yet been made public.

There were 62 passengers and five crew members on board. As a result of the disaster, 29 people survived.
