Prime Minister: Negotiations underway on the start of gas exports to Turkey from Absheron field

Negotiations are underway to begin exporting gas from the Absheron field to Turkey starting in 2029.

As BAKU.WS reports with reference to Report, this was announced by the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov during his speech at the 12th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Turkish Joint Intergovernmental Commission.

The Prime Minister emphasized that there are a number of promising projects on the agenda of the energy partnership between the two countries.

Ali Asadov noted that among them is the acquisition in June by Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO) of a 30% stake in the offshore Shafag-Asiman field located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.

"We will work together to unlock the full potential of this promising field in the Caspian. Additionally, negotiations are underway to begin exporting gas from the Absheron field to Turkey starting in 2029. SOCAR, which is the driving force of our energy cooperation, continues to expand its activities in Turkey," he added.
