President of Azerbaijan: Today Ganja, like Baku, preserves its historical appearance
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), President Ilham Aliyev spoke about the ancient monuments of Azerbaijan.
As reported by BAKU.WS, the head of state said: "Today Ganja, like Baku, preserves its historical appearance. Gabala and Sheki were capitals and were among the centers of Caucasian Albania. There are many historical monuments here. The church located in the Sheki village of Kish is perhaps one of the oldest in the world. The talent of our ancestors was also demonstrated in the village of Lahij, where at the time of its founding — fifteen centuries ago — sewage and water supply systems were built that are still functioning to this day."
