Jeyhun Bayramov discussed the peace agenda of Azerbaijan and Armenia with the head of the OSCE PA

On September 3, Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) Pere Joan Pons Sampietro, who is on a visit to the country.

This was reported by the press service of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, issues on the cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, current security challenges in the OSCE area, the situation in the region, as well as the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia were discussed.

J. Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. According to him, inter-parliamentary dialogue plays an important role in promoting mutual understanding, building trust, and developing cooperation in the OSCE area. In this context, the minister highlighted the contribution of the activities of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis within the framework of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, as well as mutual visits and meetings at various levels in developing ties.

J. Bayramov informed his interlocutor about the measures taken by Azerbaijan to ensure peace and stability in the region. He also spoke about the progress in the normalization of Azerbaijani-Armenian relations and outlined Azerbaijan's position on advancing the peace agenda.

During the meeting, humanitarian issues persisting in the region in the post-conflict period were addressed. J. Bayramov noted that the mine threat remains a serious danger for Azerbaijan. It was emphasized that in addition to the threat to human life, mine explosions hinder reconstruction and restoration work in the liberated territories, the return of internally displaced persons to their native lands, and regional development.

The minister also stressed that determining the fate of approximately 4,000 Azerbaijanis listed as missing is an important humanitarian issue.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on Azerbaijan's contribution to ensuring regional and international energy security. Information was provided about Azerbaijan's role as a reliable energy partner in ensuring Europe's energy security, projects implemented toward diversifying energy supply sources and routes, as well as initiatives in the field of green energy.

Azerbaijan's contribution to the development of regional connectivity as a country located at the crossroads of transport corridors was noted. The parties emphasized the importance of developing the Middle Corridor, expanding transport and logistics capabilities connecting Europe with Central Asia via the Caspian Sea, as well as the opening of regional communications in terms of ensuring peace, stability, and economic development.

The meeting also touched upon the dynamics of the development of Azerbaijan's strategic partnership with Central Asian countries. It was noted that the transition from the C5 format to the C6 format creates new opportunities for cooperation.

In addition, views were exchanged on current challenges in the OSCE area, as well as other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
