Today's ceremonial signing of the Charter on Strategic Partnership is a reflection of the very intensive work that our teams have been conducting over six months. The historic meeting in Washington with President Trump six months ago and the signing of the document on the creation of a working group to develop the Charter on Strategic Partnership opened new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.

As reported by Oxu.Az, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this at a press conference held after the meeting with US Vice President JD Vance in Baku.

"It is a great honor for us to be a strategic partner of the most powerful country in the world - the United States of America. We are also very grateful to President Trump, Vice President Vance and their team for their contribution to establishing peace in the Caucasus. In August last year, Armenia and Azerbaijan initialed a peace agreement at the White House in the presence of President Trump, and also signed a Joint Declaration on Peace, which President Trump also signed as a witness. And during these six months, we have already been living in peace. We are learning to live in conditions of peace. And we are very grateful to the United States government for this enormous contribution.

We have not only lifted all restrictions on the transit of cargo through Azerbaijan to Armenia, but we ourselves have begun supplying petroleum products to Armenia, thereby actually starting trade and beginning cooperation. One of the important results of the efforts of the Trump-Vance administration in our region is the implementation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project, which will not only connect two parts of Azerbaijan, but will also become a very reliable, safe and large-scale transport corridor connecting Asia with Europe through the territory of Azerbaijan, Armenia and other neighboring countries, thereby strengthening what has been achieved on the path of peaceful settlement in the region. Today, relations between the United States and Azerbaijan are entering a completely new phase," the head of state said.
