Head of State Service: Armenians carried out restoration at the Khudaveng monastery with the aim of falsifying history

During the years of occupation of Azerbaijani territories, Armenians carried out illegal restoration at the Khudaveng monastery in the Kalbajar district in order to falsify history.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by the head of the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, Sabina Hajiyeva, at Climate Week in Baku.

According to her, upon their departure, the Armenians illegally removed two frescoes from the monastery that they themselves had restored.

"We have presented the relevant information to the international community. I hope that we will be helped in returning these examples of our cultural heritage," Hajiyeva said.

She also reported that the inventory of 130 monuments in Karabakh and East Zangazur has not yet been completed due to the mine threat in these territories.

"Along with large-scale humanitarian demining, Azerbaijan applies a human- and culture-oriented approach in the restoration process. Historical monuments are being restored, cultural institutions are reopening, smart villages and modern cities are being created," the head of the service noted.
