Ex-Consul General of Azerbaijan in Saint Petersburg accused of smuggling

Former Consul General of Azerbaijan in Saint Petersburg is accused of smuggling.

As APA reports, Sultan Gasymov is accused of large-scale gold smuggling.

The criminal case was investigated by the prosecutor's office. He has been charged under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. The preliminary investigation into the criminal case has been completed, and the materials have been sent to court.

The case will be heard in the near future at the Baku Court for Serious Crimes.

Sultan Muhammad oglu Gasymov was appointed in 2009 as the first Consul General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Yekaterinburg, Russian Federation. In 2016, he was recalled from the position of Consul General.

On May 3, 2016, Gasymov was appointed Consul General of Azerbaijan in Saint Petersburg.

On October 21, 2024, he was recalled from this position.
