Denisa Saková: Slovakia expects to purchase 1.2 billion [cubic meters] of gas per year from Azerbaijan
Slovakia plans to receive 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas per year from Azerbaijan after 2027.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by Slovakia's Minister of Economy Denisa Saková after negotiations with the Azerbaijani side in Shusha.
According to Saková, Azerbaijan is offering a number of EU countries five- and ten-year contracts for the supply of natural gas. Currently, the republic consumes about half of the volume it produces, while exporting the rest. However, Baku needs long-term contracts to invest in expanding production.
"We are talking about the supply of approximately 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas per year from Azerbaijan after 2027, when we will no longer be importing Russian gas," the minister noted.
She announced that tomorrow in Baku she will hold negotiations with the management of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) with the participation of representatives of the Slovak gas company SPP. Denisa Saková emphasized that Slovakia is interested in long-term cooperation and is ready to offer Azerbaijan its technologies and expertise.
In addition, the Azerbaijani side presented to the Slovak delegation a project for an energy corridor for the transit of electricity from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan through Turkey to Europe. According to Saková's assessment, this project has significant potential for the European market.
