Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov met with the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Doreen Bogdan-Martin on November 21.

As reported by BAKU.WS from the Cabinet of Ministers, the meeting discussed prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the International Telecommunication Union in the areas of digital transformation, cybersecurity, e-government, and other fields.

During the meeting, the importance of the ITU World Telecommunication Development Conference being held in Baku was emphasized. The organization of the conference in Azerbaijan for the first time in the South Caucasus and Central Asian region was assessed as a significant event, gathering 2,500 specialists at the event.

The parties also noted the importance of opening the ITU Regional Acceleration Center in Baku as part of the conference, expressing confidence that the Center will become a leading platform for innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.

There was also a discussion about the consistent measures being taken in Azerbaijan in the development of the ICT sector, information and knowledge economy, artificial intelligence, expansion of digital infrastructure, and strengthening the fight against cybercrime.

It was noted that the President of Azerbaijan has declared the development of the ICT sector a priority direction in the country. This year, the Digital Development Concept and the Artificial Intelligence Strategy for 2025-2028 were approved.
