A new international award is being established in Baku: an important step at WUF13
"Starting this year, we are establishing a new award, and from now on, a ceremony for its presentation, associated with the name of Baku, will be held as part of every World Urban Forum."
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated by the Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, Anar Guliyev, who is participating in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
He also noted that the ministerial meeting will be held in an entirely new format for the first time:
"This time, the ministerial meeting will be organized in a fundamentally different format for the first time. A separate full day has been allocated for this purpose. In addition, a number of other innovations are also planned. Therefore, our expectations are very high."
"Baku today is welcoming guests from the most diverse corners of the world and people who have gathered here to discuss the most pressing topics, creating conditions and a platform for productive work. In my opinion, this is precisely the main objective. At the same time, the guests who have come here will be able to exchange views on the work carried out in Baku and Azerbaijan," added Anar Guliyev.
It should be noted that to date, more than 40,000 participants from 182 countries have registered for the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
WUF13 kicks off today and will run until May 22. The forum is being held within the framework of Azerbaijan's close cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and is aimed at the international exchange of experience in the fields of sustainable urban development, "smart cities," and innovative urban solutions.
