# Named the Minimum Number of Steps Per Day
The mandatory daily norm of 10,000 steps does not have a strict medical basis. To maintain good well-being, 6,000–7,000 steps per day combined with approximately 30 minutes of physical activity may be sufficient.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to "Tsargrad," this was stated by cardiologist Denis Prokofyev. According to the specialist, the specific number of steps is not the main indicator of physical activity, and the recommendation of 10,000 steps was originally more of a marketing nature.
The doctor noted that the type of physical exercise is not of fundamental importance. The main thing is to move regularly and monitor heart rate during exercise.
Prokofyev also spoke about calculating maximum heart rate using the formula 220 minus age, emphasizing that exceeding an individually permissible load can be dangerous.
