List of 50 opposition representatives compiled by Ramiz Mehdiyev - NAMES and DETAILS
After the discovery of a letter from the ex-head of the Presidential Administration and the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan about a state coup plan, addressed to Russia, the main topic of discussions became the composition of the so-called "state council" of 50 people, which Ramiz Mehdiyev planned to create.
In the letter, Ramiz Mehdiyev indicates that control over the activities of the three branches of power - legislative, executive and judicial - will be carried out by a "state council" consisting of 50 members: experienced government officials, economists, lawyers, representatives of science and culture. There is information that Mehdiyev predetermined these 50 people in advance, and among them were also representatives of the opposition.
As reported by BAKU.WS, although the complete list of 50 people from Mehdiyev's team is still unknown, the Teleqraf news agency obtained data on the identity of two opposition representatives who were supposed to join the "state council".
According to the source, one of the individuals from the opposition camp on the list is the chairman of the "Azerbaijan Popular Front Party" (APFP) Ali Kerimli, and the other is a member of the National Council Gultekin Hajibeyli. It is known that back in the second half of the 90s - during the life of Abulfaz Elchibey - Ali Kerimli betrayed him and came under the "umbrella" of Ramiz Mehdiyev, and for many years acted on his instructions. After Ramiz Mehdiyev was removed from the position of the head of the Presidential Administration in 2019, Ali Kerimli disappeared from the agenda, rallies and pickets ceased, which is one of the main proofs of this. Because during the period when Mehdiyev was in office, a euphoria was created that Ali Kerimli was the "main opposition" and "possessed the power capable of threatening the government," he remained on the agenda thanks to rallies and pickets. The source claims that there was a secret connection between Ramiz Mehdiyev and Ali Kerimli, through which the activities of the opposition were coordinated.
How did Ramiz Mehdiyev control Ali Kerimli?
It is alleged that the person who established this connection was the former head of the department of the Presidential Administration, Ali Hasanov.
According to Teleqraf, in the early 2000s, Ali Hasanov met with Ali Kerimli at one of the restaurants near the "Ganjlik" metro station. At this meeting, the outlines of future cooperation were outlined. Later, Ali Hasanov, through his man, transmitted Ramiz Mehdiyev's assignments and instructions to the APFP chairman. The weakening of Ali Kerimli's political activity, the cessation of actions, in general, his disappearance from the agenda after the removal of Ramiz Mehdiyev and Ali Hasanov from their positions is also related to this. Because Ramiz Mehdiyev and Ali Hasanov, by keeping Ali Kerimli on the agenda, created the appearance that he was a "real threat to the government" and that "they were preventing this threat," thus trying to preserve their positions. And Ali Kerimli, following Ramiz Mehdiyev's instructions, received political and other privileges in the image of the "main opposition." Obviously, Mehdiyev intended to give him a new mission in the coup plan.
The inclusion of Gultekin Hajibeyli in the "state council" had other goals. The source reports that the representation of Hajibeyli, who has relations with various circles in the West and receives support, was designed to support a possible coup attempt also from the West. The message also states that Gultekin Hajibeyli's connection with Ramiz Mehdiyev arose during the period when she was a member of parliament. It is claimed that after Hajibeyli was unable to get into parliament, Mehdiyev's instructions played a role in her uprising against the government she once defended and in her coming to Ali Kerimli. The source revealed another important detail: Ramiz Mehdiyev considered it important for people close to all states in the region to participate in the "state council," believing that this could ensure the loyalty of these countries. It is expected that the names of these individuals will be made public in the near future.
