Head of construction company who embezzled citizens' money detained

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Azerbaijan, police received reports about embezzlement of money under the pretext of carrying out construction and repair work.

During the investigation, it was established that the head of one of the construction companies, Elsever Aliyev, received 888,731 manats from a citizen for the renovation of a private house but did not complete the work in full. According to the expert assessment, the value of the completed work amounted to 317,160 manats. The man embezzled the remaining sum.

A report from another citizen was also investigated, who stated that Aliyev had received 450,000 manats from him in installments for construction and repair work but did not complete the job. The complainant was recognized as a victim, and relevant expert examinations were ordered.

A criminal case was opened on this matter under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. E. Aliyev was charged as a defendant, but he fled from the investigation and was placed on a wanted list. As a result of police operations, the man was detained and handed over to investigators.

The investigation is ongoing.
