The opening date of the first international cargo airport in Azerbaijan has been announced
The first international cargo airport being built on the territory of the Alat Free Economic Zone (FEZ) will be commissioned at the end of April 2027.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Board of the FEZ, Valeh Aleskerov, at the German-Azerbaijani Connectivity Conference in Baku.
According to him, at the first stage, the cargo capacity of the airport will be 500,000 tons per year.
"In the future, it will be gradually increased and will reach at least 2 million tons per year. The cargo airport will eliminate traditional obstacles associated with customs clearance, complex transit logistics, and bureaucratic procedures for controlling dual-use goods," he noted.
