It has become known when fruits and vegetables will become cheaper

In recent days, the prices of fruits and vegetables in markets have not been pleasing to buyers. The price increase is especially noticeable for products that are daily present on the tables of most families.

According to BAKU.WS, a kilogram of potatoes, which is used in almost every home daily, is now sold at a price from 1.50 to 2 manats.

The reason for the price increase is not only weather conditions. Rainy weather has made harvesting difficult, which has affected the cost of farmers' products. At the same time, increased fuel and transportation costs are raising the overall price level in markets.

So when will fruits and vegetables become cheaper in the markets? Can prices be lower than last year?

Economist-expert Khalid Kerimli in a comment to BAKU.WS said that the cheapening of fruits and vegetables will occur during a specific seasonal period:

"I believe that we will be able to observe this price reduction in late May, June, and July. The reason is that during this period, cheaper products will be brought to the market. Currently, most fruits and vegetables coming to the market are grown in greenhouse conditions.

On the other hand, the mass entry of products into the market will also affect prices. That is, when a large amount of fruits and vegetables from open fields enters the market, prices will decrease. Will it be cheaper than last year? If the volumes are the same as last year, it won't be cheaper, but will be relatively more expensive. But overall, it will be cheaper than now.

Why will it be more expensive than last year? Because during this period, labor prices have also increased. Inflation has been observed. The price of diesel fuel has increased, and prices for electricity, gas, and water have changed. All this shows that expenses have increased compared to last year.

But much also depends on the yield, this is an important issue. If the volumes are the same as last year, it will be more expensive. But compared to the current period, it will be cheaper."
