Elnur Soltanov: Azerbaijan and Germany Must Create a New Foundation for Energy Cooperation
Azerbaijan and Germany must create a new foundation for energy cooperation.
As Report informs, Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov stated this at the German-Azerbaijani Connectivity Conference in Baku.
According to him, Azerbaijan has been a reliable oil supplier to Germany for many years, and since 2026, natural gas supplies have given the energy partnership a new dimension. Currently, Azerbaijani gas is purchased by German companies Uniper, SEFE, and VNG.
"Our priority is to develop this partnership in the areas of renewable energy, energy connectivity, energy efficiency, and energy transition," Soltanov said.
He noted that Azerbaijan's wind energy potential in the Caspian Sea is estimated at 157 GW, and by 2032, wind and solar projects with a total capacity of 8 GW are planned to be implemented.
Soltanov reported that the final investment decision on the 4-GW "Caspian Sea-Black Sea-Europe" corridor is planned to be made in 2029, and the facility is expected to be commissioned in phases starting from 2032.
He invited German companies to participate in the Green Energy Corridor Investment and Partnership Forum, which will be held on October 22 in Baku.
