Azerbaijan's exports to the United Kingdom increased 24-fold

The United Kingdom, having invested more than 39 billion dollars in Azerbaijan's economy, is the country's largest foreign investor and one of its main economic partners.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Oxu.Az, this was stated by Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov at the eighth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the governments of Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Baku.

According to him, last year the trade turnover between the countries grew by 67%.

"In the first half of 2026, trade turnover increased nearly sixfold, reaching 3.6 billion dollars, while Azerbaijan's exports to the United Kingdom grew 24 times. The strategic energy partnership between our countries, established in 1994 with the signing of the 'Contract of the Century,' remains one of the key elements of bilateral relations. The major oil and gas projects we have jointly implemented, including the Southern Gas Corridor, clearly demonstrate our contribution to ensuring regional and European energy security. Cooperation with bp continues to develop through the implementation of new projects," he noted.

The minister also noted that Azerbaijan is advancing major green energy projects aimed at connecting the Caspian region and Central Asia with Europe:

"Among them is a route that through TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity), Nakhchivan, and Turkey will extend to Eastern markets. We invite our partners in the United Kingdom to participate in these and other green energy connectivity projects."
