Zelensky explained Ukraine's agreement to a 30-day ceasefire

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky provided clarifications regarding Kyiv's agreement to the US idea of a 30-day ceasefire in the Russian-Ukrainian war. He emphasized that this was done to avoid playing into Russia's claims that Ukraine does not want peace.
"None of us believe the Russians, but we will not play along with narratives that we don't want the war to end. I am very serious and it's important for me to end the war," Zelensky stated.
"My reaction was that we are ready for a 30-day silence format, in the format proposed to us by the American side," added the President of Ukraine.
According to him, everything now depends on Russia and its desire to cease fire. "America has demonstrated its steps and position, Ukraine has shown its position very directly," Zelensky noted.
Recall that following the meeting in Jeddah on March 11, Ukraine agreed to the immediate implementation of a 30-day ceasefire regime if Russia also takes this step.
