President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with Pope Leo XIV.
He reported this on his Telegram channel.
According to Zelensky, Ukraine greatly values the Pope's words about the need to achieve a just and lasting peace. He stated Kyiv's readiness for peace negotiations.
"Ukraine wants to end this war and is doing everything for this. We expect reciprocal steps from Russia," he wrote.
Zelensky also invited the new Pope to visit Ukraine.
