Wife sent SMS to her husband from the plane a few minutes before the crash in Washington

Heartbreaking details of the air disaster were revealed by Hamaad Raza, who received the last message from his wife just minutes before the fatal collision between an American Airlines flight and a Black Hawk military helicopter.

"I'm just praying that someone pulls her out of the river right now. That's all I can pray for," Raza shared with WUSA journalists near Reagan National Airport, showing the last messages on his phone screen.

The tragedy unfolded around 9:00 PM in close proximity to Reagan Washington National Airport. There were 64 people aboard the passenger airliner, while the military helicopter was carrying three U.S. service members.

The crash occurred in one of the world's most protected airspaces, just five kilometers from the White House and Capitol. According to preliminary data, the tragedy claimed 18 lives.
