Washington Suspends Trade Investigation Against China for a Year## Translated textWashington Suspends Trade Investigation Against China for a Year
The United States has suspended for one year a trade investigation against China related to shipbuilding and shipping. The decision is reflected in a statement from the Office of the United States Trade Representative, published on November 9.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to TASS, the investigation will be terminated at midnight on November 10. It was initiated in April 2024 and concerned alleged "unfair practices" by China in the fields of shipbuilding, shipping, and logistics. Washington claimed that Beijing was seeking to secure a dominant position in these industries.
The statement emphasizes that the suspension of the investigation followed "historic" trade and economic agreements between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, which the White House announced on November 1, 2025.
The Office of the US Trade Representative noted that the United States intends to discuss with China the issues raised during the investigation. At the same time, Washington will continue efforts to develop domestic shipbuilding and will conduct consultations with allies and partners.
