US Treasury Secretary on Iran Deal: We May Close It Today
The US may reach a ceasefire agreement very soon, "possibly today."
This was stated by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in an interview with 12 News.
The secretary echoed Donald Trump's words that during the US and Israeli operation, Iran's air force and navy were "destroyed." The head of the department added that Tehran has also suffered an economic defeat.
"We have them by the throat. They have 150-180% food inflation, they can't sustain their forces," Bessent emphasized.
In light of this, the Treasury Secretary suggested that a ceasefire agreement could be signed today or tomorrow. The expected duration, according to him, would be 30 or 60 days.
