US leader Donald Trump stated that the Venezuelan authorities will transfer up to 50 million barrels of oil to the United States for sale, and he will control the revenue from this transaction, reports BAKU.WS.

"I am pleased to announce that the interim authorities of Venezuela will transfer between 30 and 50 million barrels of high-quality, sanctioned oil to the United States," he wrote on Truth Social. "This oil will be sold at market value, and I, as President of the United States, will control these funds to ensure they are used for the benefit of the peoples of Venezuela and the United States!"

"I have instructed US Energy Secretary Chris Wright to implement this plan immediately," Trump added. As he noted, the oil will be delivered to American ports.

As the American newspaper Politico previously reported, citing sources, Washington is pressing Acting President of Venezuela Delcy Rodriguez to stop oil supplies to countries that the US considers its adversaries. The foreign policy columnist for The Washington Post, David Ignatius, noted in his column that the US administration demanded that Caracas quickly rewrite its oil production legislation in favor of American companies. According to his information, the US wants American companies to have "preferential access" to Venezuelan oil. Reuters previously reported that representatives of the Washington administration and Venezuelan authorities are discussing the possibility of increasing oil export volumes from this South American country to the United States.

On December 16, Trump announced that he had ordered the blockade of all sanctioned tankers heading to and from Venezuela.

On January 3, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto stated that the US had attacked civilian and military facilities in Caracas. He called Washington's actions military aggression. A state of emergency has been introduced in Venezuela. Trump later confirmed these strikes and announced the capture and removal of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife from the country. They were delivered to the US and are being held in a detention center in Brooklyn, southern New York. Trump claimed that the United States would temporarily take over the governance of Venezuela. In addition, the head of the American administration expressed confidence that Washington would obtain compensation for American oil companies from Caracas. As Trump promised, these firms would allocate funds for the restoration of Venezuela's oil infrastructure.
