Trump said that he saved TikTok

U.S. President Donald Trump published a video on the social network TikTok for the first time since his victory in the November 2024 election.
As BAKU.WS reports with reference to TASS, the long break in his activity was related to negotiations about transferring the Chinese platform under the control of American business.
"I'm addressing all young TikTok users: I saved TikTok, so now you owe me a lot. You're seeing me now in the Oval Office. Someday one of you will also sit at this desk and do an excellent job," stated the American leader.
U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance also published his first video after the pause.
"Hello everyone! This is J.D. Vance. We're restoring the Vice President's page on TikTok. I admit, I've been a bit lazy in recent months, focusing on work rather than social media," he noted.
On September 25, Donald Trump signed a decree approving a deal according to which TikTok's operations in the U.S. will transfer under the control of American business. The document states that the controlling stake and largest share in the new structure will belong to U.S. citizens. The Chinese company ByteDance will retain less than 20% of shares, with the remainder going to "certain investors." A new board of directors will take over company management, operating under rules that ensure the protection of American users' data and national security. The value of the new structure is estimated at approximately $14 billion.
Earlier in 2024, former President Joe Biden signed a law requiring ByteDance to either sell TikTok or cease its operations in the United States.
Trump, in turn, repeatedly stated that he has a positive attitude toward the platform, as TikTok users' support played an important role in his election victory. After his inauguration on January 20, 2025, he postponed blocking the social network, and then extended the delay several times. The last time this happened was on September 16, when Trump announced that "a group of major companies" had expressed willingness to acquire TikTok and that preliminary agreements had been reached with the Chinese side.
