Trump said he found a buyer for TikTok: a group of very wealthy people

US President Donald Trump announced that he has found a buyer for the social network TikTok.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to BBC News, according to him, there is a group of "very wealthy people" ready to acquire the platform, but he will not reveal the names of these people yet.

"I will tell you about this in about two weeks," he said in an interview with Fox News on Sunday.

According to him, the deal will likely require approval from Chinese authorities, and Chinese President Xi Jinping, in Trump's opinion, "will probably do it."

In April last year, the US Congress passed a law requiring the Chinese company ByteDance to sell the platform to an American company. Otherwise, the social network would have been blocked in the US from January 19, 2025.

Lawmakers claimed that TikTok could transfer American users' data to the Chinese government at the request of PRC authorities (the social network has repeatedly denied this possibility), therefore it poses a threat to national security.
