Ryan Routh, arrested for the attempted assassination of US President Donald Trump, appeared in court, reports The Independent.
The court expects that the trial of Ryan Routh will take four weeks, however, the lawyers expect that they will need less time.
Jury selection will take three days: lawyers will question three groups of 60 potential jurors. They will select 12 jurors, with four more invited as alternates. Opening statements from the parties involved in the process are scheduled to begin on September 11, immediately after which the prosecution will begin presenting its case.
On September 15, Routh was detained in West Palm Beach when he entered a golf club with a weapon where Donald Trump was at the time. The perpetrator approached within a few hundred meters of the ex-president before being spotted by Secret Service agents. After the suspect attempted to flee, they opened fire on him and detained him. An AK-47 rifle was found in the bushes where the man was hiding.
