The White House confirmed Witkoff's visit to the Russian Federation this week
US President's Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff will travel to Russia this week, where he hopes to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
As BAKU.WS reports with reference to TASS, this was announced at a regular briefing for journalists by White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt.
"Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff will travel to Russia again later this week to continue the conversation with Vladimir Putin," she said.
"I was just in the Oval Office [of the White House] with President [Donald Trump] and Stephen Witkoff. They wanted everyone to know that the negotiation process continues. We hope we are moving in the right direction," Leavitt added.
Earlier, the Russian leader's aide Yuri Ushakov told journalists that Witkoff plans to come to Moscow this week. Witkoff previously visited Russia on April 11. At that time, he met with Putin in St. Petersburg. The meeting lasted more than four hours, with the main topic being the settlement in Ukraine. No details of the conversation were provided.
