The Russian Embassy thanked Baku for assistance in evacuating Russians from Iran
The Russian Embassy in Tehran thanked the authorities of Iran and Azerbaijan for their assistance in evacuating Russian citizens from the territory of the Islamic Republic.
"Against the backdrop of the escalating situation around Iran, Russian citizens continue to cross the Iran-Azerbaijan border through the 'Astara' checkpoint, the Iran-Armenia border through the 'Norduz'/'Agarak' checkpoint, and the Iran-Turkmenistan border through the 'Sarakhs' checkpoint. We thank the Iranian and Azerbaijani authorities, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan for their assistance and ongoing help," the statement published on the diplomatic mission's Telegram channel reads.
The embassy also noted that it continues to receive requests from Russian citizens and assist them in leaving the territory of Iran.
