The Russian Embassy in Tehran has issued a recommendation for departure from Iran. For this purpose, the Astara border crossing on the border with Azerbaijan and the checkpoint in the direction of Armenia have been opened.

This follows from a message on the diplomatic mission's Telegram channel.

It is noted that in the first case, permission from the Azerbaijani authorities is required.

"The optimal routes for departing Iran are through Astara into Azerbaijan (please note that crossing the border requires obtaining the necessary permission from the Azerbaijani authorities in advance) and through the Norduz/Agarak checkpoint into Armenia," the information states.

Earlier, the embassy recommended that Russian citizens leave Iran due to military operations by the United States and Israel. Russians were also urged to temporarily refrain from traveling to the country until further instructions are received.

As a reminder, earlier Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the country's Defense Forces had launched a preemptive strike against Iran. The operation was named "Lion's Roar." Both countries closed their airspace. Later, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States was also participating in the military operation against Iran. As the Pentagon reported, the U.S. operation against Iran was named "Epic Fury." Iran, in turn, launched dozens of ballistic missiles at Israel. The IDF confirmed the launches; sirens are sounding across the country, and air defense systems are active.

Iran also struck American bases across the Middle East — in Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan.
