The oldest resident of Spain, Catalan Angelina Torres Valbona died at the age of 112.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to foreign media, this was announced by the head of the government of Catalonia Salvador Illa on the social network X.

"I was fortunate to meet Angelina Torres last year. She was a wise woman, full of faith and kindness, very hardworking and with enormous inner strength... My sincere condolences to her family," he wrote.

According to the EFE agency, Torres was born on March 18, 1913, in the village of Belvis and lived almost all her life in Barcelona. She was the fifth of seven children. After her father's death, the family moved to the capital of Catalonia, where Angelina began working as a seamstress.

Torres became the oldest resident of Spain in January 2025 after the passing of 117-year-old Maria Branyas and 113-year-old Piedad Loriente Perez. Now the title of the oldest woman in the country has passed to 111-year-old Carme Noguera Falguera from Girona.
