The IDF announced the elimination of the new military leader of Hamas
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the elimination of Hamas's new military leader Mohammed Odeh in a strike on the northern Gaza Strip last night.
As reported by BAKU.WS citing the IDF press service, the operation targeted several buildings in Gaza City that Odeh had been using as hideouts.
The strike was carried out after several months of intelligence surveillance of his movements and the activities of his aides.
A nearby house of another Hamas militant involved in the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel was also struck.
According to the IDF, Odeh took command of Hamas's military wing last week. He had previously served as the head of the group's intelligence unit.
The Israeli military claims that Odeh played a key role in planning and coordinating the October 7 attack, and later directed operations and intelligence activities against Israeli forces during the war.
Israeli security services stated that Odeh was one of the last senior Hamas commanders involved in organizing the October 7 attack.
